PhD Courses in Denmark

Current topics in Molecular and Cellular Biology(Gl. NAT)

PhD School at the Faculty of SCIENCE at University of Copenhagen

The course is based on active participation in the “Molecular and Cellular Biology” seminar series (http://www1.bio.ku.dk/hoejrebokse/seminarer_logo/) at the Department of Biology. It is offered for two blocks at a time and students should attend a minimum of 8 seminars to get credit. Throughout the course, students will be exposed to a wide range of current topics in the fields of ongoing research in the department. In preparation for each of eight talks preselected by the course organizers, students must read 2 papers (usually a review and a research paper). Following the seminar, students will then meet as a group with the speaker. This important aspect of the course aims at developing scientific conversation skills, and will allow for a more detailed discussion of the particular research topic and specific experimental aspects of the work presented. These meetings should also provide an opportunity for career advice. Finally, students will invite and host two speakers in the second of the two blocks of the course (the details of which will be discussed with the course organizers).
