Research in the Age of AI - Academic information seeking in the age of AI

Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences at University of Copenhagen

Enrolment guidelines

This session is open for PhD students and postdocs with an interest in the topic at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences

Content

Generative AI is changing how researchers search for, navigate and summarise academic literature. But fluent answers and convincing output incl. references are not necessarily reliable.

In this interactive workshop, we will explore how AI can support academic information seeking, including literature searching and summarising. Particular attention will be given to source checking and practical approaches to verification.

The session combines a short expert input with reflection and discussion about how these tools might fit into your own research practice. No prior experience with generative AI is required. Please bring a laptop or other device, as you may be invited to try out selected AI-supported approaches during the session.

Facilitated by Nicole Schmitt, Lorna Wildgaard and Søren Davidsen, Copenhagen University Library.

About the speaker

• Nicole Schmitt is professor in Blended Learning at the Dept. of Biomedical Sciences at SUND. She is elected chairperson of the PhD Study Board at SUND and leader of SUND’s Centre for Online and Blended Learning.

-----
Research in the Age of AI is a series of interactive 75 min-sessions for PhD students and postdocs at HEALTH exploring how generative AI is changing research practice. Each session focuses on a specific aspect of research and combines a short expert input with reflection, discussion and exchange across disciplines. The aim is to support informed and responsible use of AI while keeping scientific judgement, research integrity and researcher responsibility central. Sessions can be attended individually.
