Course content
This course focuses on the theoretical frameworks and concepts of Social Psychology of Everyday Life. Studies in this field examine psychological phenomena as they unfold in everyday interaction with oneself, others, and the world. Drawing on critical traditions of thought, the course emphasizes the analytical power of theory in understanding and investigating the inner relationship between human subjects and the socio-material worlds. The course engages with the various arenas of human life, such as children’s lives, education, institutional life, and everyday life and learning with digital technologies, social media, and generative AI. How can psychological concepts contribute to understanding the problems of human life in our contemporary world? How to refine the theory of subjectivity, technology, and the conduct of everyday life? How to understand inequality, social practice, and living one’s life in digital worlds? In what ways are individuals actively involved in the daily creation and recreation of their everyday worlds? The course intends to provide a platform for reflection and discussion for scholars engaged in the critical study of the Social Psychology of Everyday Life.
