Literature study in biomedical signal analysis

General course objectives:

The goal of this course is to introduce the participants/students to critical reading of the research literature within biomedical signal analysis, writing of papers and presentation of own as well as others’ research work. This is accomplished by reading selected papers and subsequently presenting to the other course participants and to the lecturer. Each student is requested to present at least three papers, one of which is written by themselves. A final report on a literature study should be handed in at the end of the course.

  • Advanced Search: Execute targeted literature searches using specialized databases like PubMed and IEEE Xplore.
  • Contextualize Research: Construct theoretical backgrounds that identify current research gaps and state-of-the-art trends.
  • Manage Citations: Apply accurate referencing and citation styles consistent with top-tier biomedical journals.
  • Analyze Impact: Perform quantitative citation analysis to assess research trajectory and influence in the field.
  • GAI Competency: Critically evaluate and document Generative AI use to ensure technical accuracy and ethical integrity.
