PhD course in Computational Social Science
The PhD School at the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences at University of Southern Denmark
From socializing, to consuming cultural products or even dating, people spend increasing amounts of their lives in the online world. Our increasing online presence gives rise to new research questions but also generates vast amounts of data and informatiion.
At the same time, computational methods, ranging agent-based modeling, to social-network analysis, and from machine learning to natural language processing, are becomming increasingly widespread in academia and industry and can be leveraged to study classic and new scientific questions in the social sciences, bullding interdisciplinary brigdes between siloed disciplines.
The goal of this course is to introduce PhD students to research questions asked by computaional social scientists and to familiarize them with key methods and concepts used in the field.
