PhD Courses in Denmark

DCAcademy Summer Meeting 2026

Graduate School of Health and Medical Sciences at University of Copenhagen

Enrolment guidelines

This is a specialised course. This means that 80% of the seats are reserved to PhD students enrolled at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at UCPH and 20% of the seats are reserved to PhD students from other Danish Universities/faculties (except CBS).

The course is free of charge for PhD students at Danish universities (except Copenhagen Business School), and for PhD Students from NorDoc member faculties. All other participants must pay the course fee.

Anyone can apply for the course, but if you are not a PhD student at a Danish university, you will be placed on the waiting list until enrollment deadline. This also applies to PhD students from NorDoc member faculties. After the enrollment deadline, available seats will be allocated to applicants on the waiting list.

Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:

1. Analyze and generate knowledge on inflammation and immunity in cardiovascular disease through structured research challenges, demonstrating the ability to explain mechanistic contributions, quantification methods and pharmacological targeting strategies as well as effectively communicate findings to peers (Master Class).

2. Critically evaluate emerging technologies and novel therapeutic approaches in cardiovascular research, assessing their scientific validity, translational potential and impact on clinical practice.

3. Demonstrate advanced scientific communication skills by presenting research findings effectively to diverse audiences, incorporating constructive feedback to enhance presentation quality and scientific argumentation.

4. Formulate relevant scientific questions and provide informed commentary on cardiovascular research, demonstrating the ability to generate information from expert presentations and contribute to scholarly discourse.

5. Develop professional networks within the cardiovascular research community and demonstrate competence in collaborative knowledge exchange across different research methodologies and career stages.

Content
The DCAcademy Summer Meeting 2026 focuses on three main scientific themes ischemia, organ crosstalk, inequality in research and in the health care system. The program structure facilitates in-depth exploration of these topics through masterclasses, parallel sessions, abstract presentations, and poster discussions, allowing for comprehensive coverage of both fundamental concepts and cutting-edge research developments. The program emphasizes the integration of basic science, clinical research, and translational approaches across all major themes, supported by international expert presentations and interactive learning formats.
