Co-creation and community health
Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology at Aalborg University
Welcome to Co-creation and community health
Program:HES
Description:
For the past decade health policies and programs have widely emphasized the relevance of involving the groups in focus along with community stakeholders in co-production processes. Yet, little attention has been directed towards conceptualizing co-creation and community involvement, along with describing how the wide range of co-design processes are carried out in practice as well as evaluated with attention also to unintended consequences.
This course aims to provide PhD students with knowledge about the variety of co-creation approaches, and their current relevance in health research. In the course we will present involvement methods and facilitating techniques, along with selected methodological approaches to evaluate the processes of co-creation and community involvement. The course will also offer PhD students a space for reflecting on the power differences at play in co-creation processes along with possible unintended consequences and how to address these.
The course involves lectures, group work and discussions about:
- What is co-creation; when did the concept appear historically, which are the key characteristics and what range of approaches may be applied today?
- How to involve the group in focus and community stakeholders in the research process and which involvement methods, facilitating techniques and evaluation methods may be used?
- What may be done to address possible unintended consequences and power differences?
