ISE PhD course: How to publish your PhD thesis as a book
Doctoral School of Social Sciences and Business at Roskilde University
This seminar explores how a PhD thesis can be published as a peer-reviewed book.
The lecturer’s first book was a revised version of a PhD thesis and this seminar discusses getting a PhD thesis published from two perspectives.
Firstly, based on personal experience with publishing and editing peer-reviewed books, questions such as these are addressed: What is the difference between a thesis and a book? What are the steps involved in getting your thesis published? Which publisher(s) to approach? What type of book are you aiming for and who/where is the audience? How to write a good book proposal? What is a constructive peer-review process? How to craft an overall book argument?
Secondly, we will review the body of literature on getting your thesis published to draw out important lessons. Participants are expected to discuss why/how key findings in their PhD theses could become a book project.
