ISE PhD course: Writing a Kappe/Frame
Doctoral School of Social Sciences and Business at Roskilde University
The workshop provides information, advice, and feedback to aid PhD students in the production of the Kappe/Frame for article-based PhD dissertations. The aim is to develop a clear sense of what is expected of a Kappe/Frame, to receive advice from both former PhD-students and current Kappe/Frame-supervisors and to receive feedback on an outline of your own Kappe/Frame.
The workshop covers two consecutive days from 9.15-12.00 where the first day provides key insights and advice based on presentations and Q&A while the other day is a workshop devoted to peer-feedback on concrete Kappe/Frame outlines and drafts. The concrete structure of the workshop will be communicated in due time once we know the number of participants. But the basic idea is to provide peer- as well as supervisor-feedback to Kappe/Frame outlines in plenum. Each Kappe/Frame outline will be assigned a supervisor and a student as primary discussants
The course is relevant for PhDs writing article-based dissertations both at the beginning and the end of their PhD-programme. It is possible to only sign up for the first day of the workshop. This might be a relevant option for PhD-students who just started. However, in order to earn 1 ECTS, participants must partake in the workshop and submit a Kappe/Frame outline as well as provide feedback to another student’s outline. The Kappe/Frame outline can be anywhere from three to ten normal pages.
