Learning objectives
A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:
1.Understand the historical development of pharmacological research in treatment of mental health disorders
2.Present an overview of important pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic variables to consider when planning clinical research in psychopharmacology
3.Describe important aspects to consider in relation to blinding of study medication
4.Get acquainted with requirements for registration and documentation before and during the conduct of a pharmacological clinical trial
5.Initiate and adjust plans for recruitment
Content
A historical view of important milestones in the development of modern neuropsychopharmacology including current and future classifications. A repetition of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics of pharmaceutical compounds that are important when planning a clinical trial and when interpreting the results. Important aspects regarding blinding of study medication. Description of the design and workflow in CTIS and what to be aware of. Other important/possible registration possibilities. Experiences from others regarding recruitment to learn what makes an efficient recruitment set-up.
Participants
