General course objectives:

There are two main objectives of this Journal club, expand the background knowledge in the different research areas of fish diseases and aquatic animal health, and develop scientific communication skills.



Learning objectives:

A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:

  • Read, assess, and critically review scientific articles.
  • Make a well structured oral presentation of scientific articles, addressing results of research projects.
  • Identify hypothesis to test in the different articles read and explain in his/her own words whether the experiments carried out are enough to test the hypothesis and why.
  • Provide alternative/additional experiments that can be done to further explore the scientific problem showed in a specific article.
  • Provide constructive feedback to presentations given by fellow students.

Contents:

The course consists of presentations and discussions of scientific articles and PhD project results. The PhD students should present to Professors, senior researchers, post-doc, and PhD students. The evaluation will focus on both deep knowledge of the information delivered and the way that the information is delivered.
