General course objectives:

The aim of this course is to give a broad introduction to the life as a PhD student. The focus is on a number of topics and specific that are vital for the PhD student’s work and future career. Moreover, the coourse gives an introduction to the scientific profile of DTU Compute.



Learning objectives:

A student who has met the objectives of the course will be able to:

  • Identify and present relevant topics and research areas i relation to own PhD project
  • Discuss fundamental problems in the topics presented in the seminars
  • Apply basic tools for PhD project management
  • Communicate research by using the method of storytelling
  • Understand and apply principles regarding scientific writing
  • Prepare and deliver a 3 minute pitch
  • Evaluate the topics presented from a technical and scientific point of view
  • Understand and discuss the principles behind "Responsible conduct of research"
  • Know and use DTU's ecosystem for innovation
  • Understand current scientific themes at DTU Compute
